Our pithy new guidebook celebrates the Science Museum's 100th birthday.
As it geared up for its 100th birthday celebrations in 2009, the Science Museum asked Cultureshock to replace its pocket-sized guide with a publication that was more substantial and appealing. Our response was this 96-page illustrated book conceived both as a definitive guide to the museum's galleries and as an attractive souvenir for visitors to keep.
Cultureshock's design team worked closely with the Science Museum's publishing wing to devise a format that was accessible, practical and easy to use. Meanwhile our editors helped to redraft the curators' text in a form which added focus and fun to its scholarship.
The new book stands out thanks to a beautiful and distinctive ‘wrap-around' cover photograph by Edina van der Wyck and a simple ‘floor-by-floor' structure that showcases the museum's many attractions with elegant clarity.
