Blake to Spacey

From Blake to Spacey

When Sir Peter Blake first visited the V&A as a would-be art student in 1953, he was by his own account an uncultured ‘ruffian'. In the half century since, Blake has ‘got culture', achieving world-wide fame as a Pop Art pioneer as well as membership of design's most prestigious body, the Royal Designers for Industry. In this fascinating short film produced by Cultureshock and shot by Peter Kelleher in the V&A's airy Prints and Drawings Study Room, the artist, designer and collector recalls his student days in South Kensington and picks out favourite works by the likes of Sickert and his namesake William Blake.

Other recent films for the V&A include a Vox Pop ‘tour' of the recently opened Theatre and Performance Galleries with contributions from celebrities who attended the opening, among them Kevin Spacey, Sir Peter and Rebecca Hall, Sam West and Michael Heseltine.
