Cultureshock Media worked with Graff Diamonds to design, edit and produce a contemporary art auction catalogue in aid of the FACET Foundation, a charity whose purpose is to make a measurable difference to Africa’s children.
FACET was established in 2008 by Laurence Graff with a vision to
address overwhelming and specific needs of Africa’s children in critical areas
of education and health. With a real understanding of local needs, FACET
identifies and supports programmes in partnership with organisations, which
have a proven track record of accountability and achievement.
Laurence Graff raised $1.2m (£767,180) on Monday 12th October 2009 from the
sale of 26 lots donated by some of the most important contemporary artists of
our time. Highlights of the event were the records set for the Deborah Bell and
the Christoph Schellberg. The Raqib Shaw went for £200,000 – a record for his
work on paper at auction. Other artists who contributed to the auction included
Tracey Emin, Jeff Koons, David LaChapelle, Dennis Hopper, Ed Ruscha and Marc
Quinn.
